Write for us
Western Living Culture welcomes considered pitches about customs, craft, foodways, places and dress across Western cultural life. Send proposals through the Contact page; a focused idea is more useful than a complete draft sent without context.
What to pitch
Propose one specific subject: a material detail, a gathering custom, a food tradition, a kind of place or a clothing practice. Tell us what makes it worth noticing and what a reader will understand by the end. We welcome explanatory, comparative, historical and occasion-based approaches.
A strong proposal
Include a working title, a short summary, the central question or observation, and any sources or access the piece would rely on. Be clear about the limits of your knowledge. Pitches should avoid sweeping claims about whole populations and should leave space for variation and change.
Send a proposal
Use the Contact page and choose the editorial option. Include a brief note about your relevant experience only where it helps us assess the proposal; do not assume that a pitch has been accepted until we have replied.
Culture lives in the details people repeat
A threshold, a table setting or a familiar way of welcoming someone can tell a careful observer a great deal about place and habit.
