Editorial policy

Western Living Culture aims for clear, careful writing about cultural practices and material life. We distinguish what can be described from what is interpreted, make uncertainty visible, and revise the record when a meaningful error comes to light.

Accuracy and context

We check names, dates and factual details against appropriate sources before publication, and we take care not to flatten regional or community differences. Where a point is uncertain or interpretations differ, the wording should reflect that rather than imply a settled answer.

Independence

Editorial decisions and conclusions belong to the publication. A collaboration or commercial relationship does not guarantee coverage or a favourable view. Material provided by an outside party is considered critically and identified when it shapes a published piece.

Corrections

If you spot a factual error, contact us through the Contact page and identify the article and the detail in question. We review correction requests and amend published work when warranted; significant changes should be made clear to readers.

Partner material and illustrations

Paid or partner material is labelled so readers can distinguish it from independent editorial work. Some illustrations may be generated with AI; when that applies, the illustration is identified. Images are not presented as documentary evidence unless they are.

Our point of view

Culture lives in the details people repeat

A threshold, a table setting or a familiar way of welcoming someone can tell a careful observer a great deal about place and habit.
